Not just intelligence! Business Intelligence is Art, Science, Engineering, and Design!

In order to achieve profitability we need to be ruthless, creative, calculating, analyst, risk taker, great communicator, strategist and sometimes that’s not even enough.

The Business Intelligence helps us to concentrate different disciplines which allows us to answer the following question: is my business profitable?

Science is for exploration; it can convert information into knowledge. Engineering is for invention; it converts knowledge into utility. The Design is for communication and converts utility into behavior and cultural context. Art is for expression, and it takes that cultural behavior and questions our perception of the world.

There is a kind of flow of information, a flow of creativity that happens in all disciplines. There is a precise moment when Art meets Science and our perception of data changes completely. It’s not magic, but it can happen if and only if we can base our strategic choices on certain, usable, up-to-date data, just in time!

We must end with randomness. All this is possible with the adoption of Business Intelligence. BI allows us to express the creativity of business, BI allows us to explore the hidden sides of our business, allows us to give space to the invention, and, finally, allows us to tell and communicate our business.

Is Franchising the Way Forward?

STR franchisees or companies who license their brand have become a more popular route to STR expansion. Unlike fully salaried and employed staff these businesses have to counter different challenges to scale their operations and grow inventory.

Centralised technology is one thing but unlike McDonald’s which has a public face, and a standardised and quality-controlled product, management companies are seldom ever in the public eye, especially with Airbnb often the rental brand!

Is franchising just a creative way to find cleaners and maintenance teams and pay a little more and avoid taxes? Or do companies really have scope to reach across borders, with non-standardised product and service cultures?

What do you need to implement a great Franchise model?
